Lighteness

This project started a year ago in India, where I attended and took part in several traditional ceremonies, such as Diwali, comparable to our Christmas. During a long trip to Agra, I had the occasion to think about everything I had experienced and seen during my journey. I realized that the word that best described all the sensations I went through was lightness. It is this same lightness that led me during my work, and it is the same lightness that binds the shots presented here, including traditional dances, religious ceremonies, children’s smiles. Why lightness? Because while dancing one is no longer able to feel the weight of his body. In religious ceremonies, likewise, the soul casts off all the burden it carried. Only by getting rid of this burden, one is able to go through life with the lightheartedness that only children are able to grasp. So…be light!
